Connecting, Nurturing, Creating for Sustainable Environment

Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Advisory

There has been a dramatic increase in the rate of Environmental, Social and Governance ("ESG") reporting across Asia Pacific over the last few years. Many corporations in Hong Kong have followed this trend and have been striving to improve their ESG disclosure. Driven by an increase in information requests from stakeholders, and sustainability rating agencies, as well as increasing regulations from governments and stock exchanges, ESG reporting is no longer viewed as simply a public relations exercise but an integral part of an organisation’s risk management approach.

Since 1989, Business Environment Council has been at the forefront of Hong Kong's sustainable development, striving to build capacity and facilitate action by partnerships with business, government and community groups. The Business Environment Council (BEC) is the longest running independent, non-profit organization in Hong Kong promoting corporate social and environmental responsibility. Over the past two decades, BEC has completed over 1,000 environmental programmes outreaching and benefiting every industrial and service sector.

In the field of corporate sustainability reporting, BEC has in-depth knowledge of the GRI reporting framework as well as HKEx ESG Guidelines. BEC provides our members and the broader business community a trustworthy partner through which to share expertise and learn new ideas. BEC can guide companies through the entire reporting process, assisting companies to implement stakeholder engagement programmes, benchmark their disclosure performance against best practice and their peers, as well as prepare and write their ESG report.
