BEC is presenting the "Policy Dialogue Series – Progress Review" with the Under Secretary for the Environment on 23 September 2014 (Tuesday). Ms Christine Loh will meet with BEC members to give an update on the development of various environmental policies announced in the 2014 Chief Executive Policy Address, with particular reference to BEC’s recommendations to Government in November 2013.

The BEC Policy Dialogue Series provides a unique opportunity for the business community to discuss with senior Government officials major issues related to the environment and sustainability, to create more in-depth understanding of the Government’s policy direction, and to express views and opinions. As BEC has started the process of formulating recommendations for the 2015 Policy Address, it is now an opportune time to get first hand feedback from Ms Loh on our recommendations from last year and provide us with an update on progress made thus far. BEC will take Ms. Loh’s update on progress into consideration when formulating our submission for the upcoming Policy Address.

The key environmental issues that BEC identified in our submission last year were as follows:

  • Waste management
  • Energy policy, including fuel mix, building energy efficiency and low carbon transport
  • ESG reporting and performance
  • Climate change
  • Harbourfront Authority
