Construction and Demolition Waste: Eco-Friendly Construction Materials

Mr. John Li, Technical Sales Engineer, LVFAR Kin Fung Green Reusable Industry Ltd.

Waste management is a pressing issue in Hong Kong and this calls for prompt actions from both the business sector and the Government. Turning waste, including construction and demolition (“C&D”) waste, into useful means can reduce the amount of waste and alleviate the pressure on landfills.

Mr. Li will share the current situation of C&D waste in Hong Kong, and technology that applies in converting C&D waste to green construction materials. He will also talk about applications of green construction materials in the territory.

Green Deck – An Innovative Environmental & Social Project to Resolve Problems in Cross Harbour Tunnel Vicinity

Mr. Daniel Suen, Deputy Director, Campus Development, Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Situated near the heavily-loaded Cross Harbour Tunnel, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (“PolyU”) has long witnessed environmental and social problems in the vicinity. PolyU has thus proposed constructing a Green Deck over the Cross Harbor Tunnel plaza to provide people with a green open space to unwind from the hustle and bustle of city life, and to help foster sustainable development through a number of research projects undertaken by PolyU experts. Mr. Suen will introduce this innovative project to the participants.
