Following the release of the 2016 Chief Executive’s Policy Address on 13 January 2016, Mr KS Wong, Secretary for the Environment of the Hong Kong SAR Government, will meet with BEC members and provide first hand update on the policies related to environmental protection and sustainable development set out in the Policy Address.
This Policy Dialogue with the Secretary for the Environment provides a unique opportunity for BEC members to discuss environment-related issues pertinent to Hong Kong, understand more thoroughly the policy direction and initiatives of the Government, and to express views and opinions from the perspective of the business sector.
In November 2015, BEC submitted a paper to the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR Government, which outlined in detail our policy recommendations on further enhancing Hong Kong’s environment and sustainability. Our Policy Address submission has covered BEC’s core advocacy areas: climate change; energy policy; transport and logistics; waste management; natural capital including biodiversity, water and air; green business and finance; environmental, social and governance reporting and performance; and the Harbourfront Authority. This paper is available on BEC website.
