Biological resources provide for our daily needs, such as clothing, food, shelter, fuel and medicine. However, due to the current over-consumption pattern, many of the biological resources that we come across are now under the risk of depletion and exhaustion. If the rate of harvesting and consumption is greater than the reproduction rate, more and more species, habitats and resources will disappear more quickly than we can imagine! Recognising this, the Council for Sustainable Development is carrying out a public engagement on ways and means to promote more sustainable consumption of biological resources.

The important issues to be discussed include:

  • How to promote best practices among businesses?
  • How could businesses take the lead in promoting sustainable consumption of biological resources?
  • What are the drivers for businesses to purchase more sustainable products?

You are cordially invited to attend this event on 19 October to share with us and the Council your views on these issues.

The event is co-organised by the Council for Sustainable Development, an advisory body to the Government, and Business Environment Council.
