Finance has a critical role in the transition to a low carbon economy, safeguarding our atmosphere and stabilizing our climate. It is estimated that US$90 trillion in investments is needed between 2016 and 2030 to deliver on the max 2C temperature rise goal of the Paris Agreement. This means raising finance to fund green projects but also making investment decisions taking on board climate risk and impact, emphasized by the recent Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures Report. Making finance “climate-smart” can drive efforts towards mitigation and build economic resilience.
