In this research project, BEC compared the policy frameworks between Hong Kong and seven cities (Singapore, Tokyo, New York City, Sydney, Essen, Beijing, and Shenzhen), to draw out policy recommendations that will support the business case for energy efficiency investments in new and existing buildings in Hong Kong. As a highly dense urban environment, buildings contribute significantly to Hong Kong’s electricity consumption and carbon emissions. To businesses, building owners, and building users, this will translate into high operating costs as well as environmental footprint.

In this research project, BEC compared the policy frameworks on buildings energy efficiency between Hong Kong and seven cities (Singapore, Tokyo, New York City, Sydney, Essen, Beijing, and Shenzhen), and offered policy recommendations that will support the business case for energy efficiency investments in new and existing buildings in Hong Kong.

At this seminar, we will hear from green building professionals and building owner/users the bottlenecks they encountered in further enhancing energy efficiency, and how landlord/tenant collaboration can be used as a possible solution.

We warmly invite BEC members, relevant government departments, building owners, facility managers, and those who are interested to join the event.
