Hong Kong, 17 December 2021 - Business Environment Council Limited (“BEC”) is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Simon Ng as the Chief Executive Officer, with effect from 3 January 2022.
Mr Ng is currently BEC’s Director – Policy & Research, leading the organisation on policy advocacy, thought leadership development, and collaborative research on key environmental issues including climate change, circular economy, clean energy and sustainable mobility. Simon is known for his ground-breaking work on ship emissions inventory and evidence-based control policy in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta, and his instrumental role in the Fair Winds Charter – a voluntary business initiative to reduce ship emissions. He has over 25 years of experience in academic and policy research, project management and stakeholder engagement. Prior to joining BEC, Simon was the Chief Research Officer of a Hong Kong based think tank, and held teaching and research positions in several local universities. Simon holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Geography from the University of Hong Kong. Currently, he is a Member of Council for Sustainable Development. Internationally, Simon is an Expert Member of the UNCRD Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport Forum in Asia since 2006.
