Chief Executive Mrs Carrie Lam announced her fifth Policy Address on 6 October 2021. On policies relating to the environment, the Government made strong commitment to address climate change by reducing the total carbon emissions by 50% before 2035 from the 2005 level, as well as to reduce waste and improve resources recovery. On 8 October, the Government also published Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2050.
To facilitate dialogue with the Government, BEC will organise an event for members to understand and discuss the latest environmental policy put forward in the Policy Address and the updated climate strategy. BEC is pleased to have Mr K.S. Wong, Secretary for the Environment and Mr C.W. Tse, Under Secretary for the Environment as our guests of honour. They will give an overview of the ongoing and new initiatives relating to environmental protection, sustainable development and decarbonisation, and will also participate in an open conversation with BEC Board Directors and other event participants.
