As the BEC Low Carbon Charter continues with the growth of signatories, BEC will strengthen support to the signatories by launching new initiatives to facilitate and accelerate decarbonisation in specific sectors.
The objective of this Global Connect Initiative is to strengthen the Charter by linking it and its signatories to international initiatives and/or campaigns on climate action. In doing so, the Charter will be further enhanced by making connection with other global players in addition to local peers in Hong Kong, and will offer signatories access to international best practices and the opportunities to participate in initiatives outside Hong Kong. Learnings from the Charter signatories through this project could be shared with the wider business community in Hong Kong through BEC’s network.
The Initiative has delivered the following activities:
- Learning about international climate programmes related to businesses, including the Climate Pledge, the Business Ambition for 1.5 and SME Climate Hub;
- Connecting the Charter signatories to We Mean Business Coalition and their international climate initiatives through event engagement;
- Developing story of actions from leading Charter signatories to showcase their business climate action to international counterparts

A total of 8 Charter signatories were invited to submit their Story of Action to showcase their climate action and demonstrate climate leadership in Hong Kong.
