BEC CEO Dialogue is a new signature event of BEC launched in the year of 2022 which marks the 30th Anniversary of the organisation. The event is aimed to be a platform for idea exchange among business leaders and senior executives, with prestigious CEOs being invited as honorable guests to share their valuable insights.
In the upcoming BEC CEO Dialogue, themed “Strategic Leadership in Leveraging Energy Transition Opportunities”, Mr Peter Wong, Managing Director, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas), will share his views and experience on how to lead the company strategically in leveraging new opportunities amid energy transition. BEC Board Director Ms Anne Yu and BEC CEO Mr Simon Ng will also join the dialogue.

Mr Peter Wong Mr Peter Wong Wai-yee is the Managing Director of The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (0003.HK). He joined the Company in 1997, and was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Company in 2013. Mr Wong holds directorships in various subsidiaries of the Group. He is also an Executive Director and the Chief Executive Officer of Towngas Smart Energy Company Limited (1083.HK), as well as the Vice Chairman and a director of Shenzhen Gas Corporation Limited. In 2002, Mr Wong spearheaded the expansion and diversification of the Group’s utility business on the Chinese mainland. Thanks to his leadership and efforts, Towngas Group now has a presence in 28 provincial regions, with its business portfolio covers not only gas supply, but also smart energy, distributed energy systems, waste and water treatment, and biomass utilisation, along with other extended businesses. Mr Wong has always been actively involved in community affairs. He is a Council Member of the Vocational Training Council, a Council Member of the Employers’ Federation of Hong Kong, and a member of the Advisory Committee and External Advisor of the Career Planning and Development Steering Committee of the College of Professional and Continuing Education, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is also the Chairman of the Advisory Board of The Hong Kong Management Association (“HKMA”) Global Centre for ESG Education and Research and a council member of HKMA. Mr Wong was named consecutively as one of “The Best CEOs of Chinese Listed Companies” by Forbes in 2012 and 2013. He is a chartered professional accountant of Canada, a certified public accountant of Hong Kong and a chartered company secretary and chartered governance professional in both Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. He is also a Fellow of The Hong Kong Institute of Directors and a Fellow of The Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers of the United Kingdom. Mr Wong completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in the United States, and has over 46 years of experience in corporate finance, management and international working experience.
