Business Environment Council Limited (“BEC”) collaborated with Network of Environmental Student Societies (“NESS”) to host the “BEC x NESS Green Jobs Fair 2025” at BEC Auditorium and Exhibition Hall today. The fair brought together Dr Samuel Chui, JP, Director of Environmental Protection, alongside young talents and industry leaders in sustainability, showcasing the vast opportunities within the emerging green job market. Over 150 aspiring young attendees engaged in valuable networking with potential employers, reinforcing BEC and NESS's commitment to empowering the next generation in building a sustainable future.
Reflecting on the past two editions, the Green Jobs Fair has evolved beyond the mere presentation of opportunities for job-seekers. It is also an occasion for companies to showcase their purpose and business, attract top talents, and build a strong and sustainable workforce that will contribute to the continued development of a sustainable Hong Kong.
Mr Kevin O’Brien, Chairman of BEC, noted in his welcoming remarks, “Many young individuals lack access to specialised training and practical experience. We must foster collaborative efforts among businesses, organisations and academia, creating favourable conditions and offering hands-on experience for students to cultivate tomorrow’s leaders in sustainability – individuals who will be indispensable in reaching our environmental goals.”
Mr Mark Cheung, Co-founder of NESS said, “As sustainability has become a global priority and Hong Kong stands among the leading cities in green finance, green jobs represent a promising future. With the boundless imagination and increasing knowledge of our young generation across disciplines, they are uniquely positioned to drive meaningful change and lead us towards a sustainable future. We hope this fair will equip them with the essential skills needed to transform their aspirations into action, paving the way for impactful careers in sustainability.”
The one-day fair featured a dynamic lineup of activities, including an engaging governmental dialogue, insightful panel discussions on the prospects of green jobs, skill-building workshops, and networking opportunities with employers. Attendees had the chance to connect with companies dedicated to sustainability, gaining insights into various career paths and sharing their innovative ideas on pressing environmental topics.
