Business Environment Council Limited (“BEC”) collaborated with Network of Environmental Student Societies (“NESS”) to host “BEC x NESS Green Jobs Fair 2026” at BEC Auditorium and Exhibition Hall today. The fair brought together government representatives, young talents and sustainability industry leaders, showcasing the evolving opportunities within Hong Kong’s green job market. Mr Gary Tam, Assistant Director, Environmental Protection Department, officiated the opening ceremony as Guest of Honour. More than 100 aspiring young participants engaged with potential employers, reaffirming BEC and NESS's commitment to empowering the next generation in building a sustainable future.
Marking its fourth edition, the one-day fair featured an official dialogue session and two panel discussions in the morning, covering topics from cross-sector green workforce development to AI’s role in sustainability. Beyond that, interactive elements were introduced in the afternoon programme to make the event more immersive, practical, and impactful. A guided tour at Hong Kong Productivity Council provided participants with a deeper understanding of the green workplace. Additionally, attendees were able to network with employers and connect with companies in the speed-networking session, acquiring insights on career development in the sustainability field.
Mr Simon Ng, Chief Executive Officer of BEC, noted in his welcoming remarks, “BEC and NESS inaugurated the Green Jobs Fair three years ago to build a talent pipeline that powers Hong Kong’s green transition. Over the years, we have been encouraged to see young talents securing green job opportunities through this event, while corporates identify suitable candidates to embark on the sustainability journey with them.
As we move forward, it is essential that we continue to nurture this momentum. By partnering with educational institutions and industry leaders, we enhance our outreach and create tailored programmes that equip aspiring professionals with the skills they need. By fostering collaboration and innovation, we ensure that the next generation is not only prepared for the future job market but also empowered to take the lead in creating a sustainable and resilient economy for Hong Kong.”
Ms Shruthe Kirupakaran, Founding Member of NESS said, “As sustainability becomes a defining part of corporate strategy and economic development in Hong Kong and across the globe, green professionals play an increasingly vital role. Their specialised knowledge and skills are key to unlocking a more resilient and sustainable future. With rising climate ambitions worldwide, we hope this fair inspires young talents, equipping them with the insights and capabilities to pursue meaningful careers and contribute to the global sustainability transition.”
