BEC “Fostering Sustainable Consumption for Hong Kong Business and the Community” Programme Launch and Mini-Expo

BEC hosted the launch ceremony and mini-expo of the “Fostering Sustainable Consumption for Hong Kong Business and the Community” Programme on 28 July 2017. Over 100 representatives from various industries attended the ceremony and shared their views on sustainable consumption with potential businesses partners. 

This programme, which comprises of a Guide, a website and a mobile application, aims to promote sustainable consumption and procurement practices in business sector and the wider community. It is an initiative that supports the Sustainable Development Goal 12 “Responsible Consumption and Productionestablished by the United Nations in 2015.  

In addition to the platform, a Recognition Scheme has been launched to invite companies to participate as “Sustainable Consumption Enterprise” or “Sustainable Product Supplier”. For more details about the scheme, please click here.

BEC’s Project on The Economics of Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment

BEC is now inviting companies to submit Buildings Energy Efficiency Improvement Success Stories for a project titled “The Economics of Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment – Developing the tools for making decisions on cost-effective solutions” which aims to support building owners and managers to develop a business case for investing in the energy efficiency of buildings. A guidebook will be developed to put together a series of case studies to showcase energy efficiency initiatives – from retrofits to optimisations – and their energy saving impacts. This exhibition displayed creative plant arrangement art pieces made of discarded materials including glass, plastics, aluminium, wood and paper.

14 July: Industry Visit to Alliance’s Concrete Batching Plant

In this Industry Visit, participants visited the Alliance’s new mega concrete batching plant in Tsing Yi Island, a fully automated plant with maximum daily production capacity of 3,000m3.
