Australia is one of the top destinations for ecotourism. Mr Johnny Nee, a travel industry veteran and Director International Marketing (North Asia) of Tourism Western Australia will give you a glimpse of Western Australia’s natural beauty, and share with us how Western Australia unleashes economic potential of eco-holidays, and the national marketing strategy of the Australian government.
Also joining this gathering is Mr August Tiu, a registered architect and Head of Project, The Baroque On Lamma who will introduce his low carbon resort masterplan, and the challenges and opportunities of developing ecotourism in Hong Kong.
Last but not least is Ms Lisa Christensen, Editor-in-Chief, Founder and CEO of Ecozine and Refined Travellers and a pioneer in sustainable travel movement, who will share with you valuable insider insights about the latest global trend of ecotourism, destinations with best practices, and as travellers how we can make our holidays more sustainable.

Australia’s economy benefits significantly from tourism through generating jobs, investment and growth in communities throughout Australia. How the Australian & their state governments set a national marketing strategy to grow the tourism industry and to introduce natural environments and eco-holidays that foster environmental and cultural understanding & appreciation of our natural habitats.
Mr Johnny Nee joined the Western Australian Tourism Commission in 2013, promoting Western Australia as an extraordinary holiday and event destination for sport, art, cultural and business events. Mr Nee has previously worked for Tourism Australia for 19 years and was the Regional General Manager, North Asia and Chief Representative China. He will share with us the stunning natural environment and attractions in Australia, and inspire us to seek for a holiday destination that could minimize the negative impact to the environment.
August Tiu, Head of Project, The Baroque On Lamma
The Baroque of Lamma is a project aiming to develop a comprehensive development on the southern part of Lamma Island and to introduce a new low carbon life style to Hong Kong and create a new destination for local people as well as tourists offering health, leisure, water sports, outdoor events, cultural heritage and immersive ecological education and experience for residents and visitors.
Mr Tiu is a registered architect currently working on the Baroque of Lamma Project, focusing on low carbon technologies, preservation of local bio-diversity as well as cultural heritage to create an eco-destination. He will share with us what is happening in Hong Kong to support ecotourism and how to promote sustainable travel that benefits local communities, culture and heritage.
Lisa Christensen, Editor-in-Chief, Founder & CEO, Ecozine and Refined Travellers
Lisa Christensen is a vibrant, game-changing social entrepreneur. She launched Ecozine as an online magazine in 2013 with no experience in an industry that many said is either dead or dying. Ecozine is growing into an international multimedia business and lifestyle platform with multiple verticals across print, digital, events - all of which serve to ignite human potential. She subsequently founded Refined Travellers, a publication leading the sustainable travel movement.
As a pioneer in the green movement, Lisa is also the founder of the largest environmental event in the region, The Hong Kong Cleanup. She is a regular commentator on environment, entrepreneurialism, and wellness. Her passion is to challenge individuals and corporations to change the way they think, take them out of their comfort zone and prove that there is more than one way to do anything. She encourages disruption, entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and innovation and lives life to the absolute fullest. Lisa’s vision is to build a community of like-minded people and company’s who want to change the world.
