When Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) concepts first appeared around 20 years ago, corporate governance was limited to regulating company boards and board directors' accountability. Climate-related performance did not factor into corporate governance. 20 years later, ESG has become the new norm, and climate resilience has gradually been incorporated into good corporate governance practices. The rise of the Taskforce for Climate-related Financial Disclosure ("TCFD") further drives companies to consider climate risks and opportunities using a top-down approach.
As we expect more stringent regulations and ratcheting investor expectations, are company boards in Hong Kong ready to respond to climate change? What can the government, private sector and others do to strengthen board accountability on the topic? Join us at this launch event to listen to BEC's research findings on the trends of corporate climate governance in Hong Kong and learn from industry experts on how companies can become more climate resilient.
