  • 1. Green Building Projects and Recognitions

    Getting the below international or local green building certificates is the target for Chinachem Group's construction projects, planned and due to commence shortly:

     1) The US Green Building Council (USGBC) - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)

     2) The Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) - Building Environmental Assessment Model (BEAM) Plus

    Asian House and Wing On Life Building are some of the projects that have received Gold pre-certifications under the LEED Certification System.

    2. Sustainable Development Conference

    In June 2010, Chinachem Group joined forces with the University of Hong Kong to host the "Green Buildings = Better Quality of Life" Conference, where over a thousand audience united to explore the relationship between green architectures and quality living. In 2012, Chinachem Group invited around 600 industry veterans and students from related fields to share their different views and experience in pursuing a sustainable development at the "Environmental Conference 2012 - Sustainable Development - A Better Quality of Life". In October 2014, Chinachem Group held the 3rd Biennial Conference on Sustainable Development with the theme of "The Future of Sustainability: From Planning to Implementation".

    3. Chinachem Walkathon

    Chinachem launched the first Chinachem Charity Walk in 2011. In 2013, they renamed the Walk as Chinachem Walkathon but carried on the same mission to share the fabulous stories behind Green Hong Kong. Over 12,000 people have supported the Walk and  explored local natural beauty with them since 2011.

    4. Green Hotels

    All hotel properties under Chinachem Group consistently implement sustainable practices to minimise their impacts on the environment. As Hong Kong's first Geopark Hotel, L'hotel Island South is dedicated to public environmental education, encouraging the public to treasure and appreciate the beauty of nature. L' hotel Island South was awarded ISO 14001:2004 certification for Environmental Management System (EMS) by BSI Management Systems, one of the world's leading certification bodies. In April 2012, L'hotel Island South joined Food Link to donate surplus food and supplies to Food Link, which will distribute the supplies to shelters and charitable organisations.

    To promote an eco-lifestyle, L'hotel Island South under the L'hotel Group, joined the "No Shark Fin Corporate Pledge" and promises to offer eco-conscious guests shark fin-free dining options.
