Do you know the waste you disposed from your apartment actually takes a long route before settling in landfill?
BEC organised an Industry Visit to Sha Tin Transfer Station (STTS) on 12 April 2014 (Saturday). From this visit, guests learnt that STTS plays a crucial role in the whole waste management process. As one of the seven Refuse Transfer Stations (RTSs), it handles nearly 1,000 tons of waste from Sha Tin, Tai Po and parts of the North District and East Kowloon every day. And BEC guests also knew more about the special features in the station such as odour control system and wastewater treatment plant.
