“BEC Policy Dialogue Series: 2015 Policy Address” aims to offer a platform for our members to understand more about the Chief Executive’s 2015 policy direction, express views from the perspective of the business sector, and further explore areas of mutual interest in order to promote Hong Kong’s sustainable development and drive Hong Kong towards a low carbon economy.
About the Event
Following Part I of BEC Policy Dialogue Series on 2015 Policy Address with Ms. Christine Loh to be held on 22 January 2015, BEC is presenting Part II of BEC Policy Dialogue Series on 2015 Policy Address with Mr. Paul Chan, Secretary for Development on 23 January 2015. Mr. Paul Chan will visit BEC Headquarters to elaborate policies under the purview of the Development Bureau (“DevB”) in 2015 Policy Address, and exchange views and opinions with members. BEC is pleased to have the Hong Kong Green Building Council (“HKGBC”) as a co-organiser.
In October 2014, BEC submitted a paper to the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR Government, which outlined in detail policy recommendations on further strengthening Hong Kong’s environment and sustainability. A copy of the paper was also issued to DevB as well as other relevant Government bureaux and departments. In particular, BEC has urged for quick and decisive action to build a secure electric vehicle charging infrastructure for Hong Kong within the next 5 years with the joint efforts of the Environment Bureau, Transport and Housing Bureau (“THB”) and DevB. BEC also recommended that THB and DevB introduce measures to support the faster deployment of electric taxis and minibuses, and to further enhance traffic flow and consult the public on widening pedestrianisation measures for selected areas of Hong Kong.
