Towards a Smart Sustainable City – Potential and Opportunities for Hong Kong

As the world is close to breaching several environmental limits – from climate change to biodiversity loss – and as urban living becomes the norm, it is increasingly important for cities to be designed and managed in an environmentally sustainable way. The “smart city” approach is regarded as a way to achieve this: to minimise negative environmental impact, whilst also enhancing liveability and well-being as well as capturing business advantage.

As the flagship event of Business Environment Council since 2002, this EnviroSeries conference will explore how a smart city approach can be leveraged to achieve these multiple objectives. We will invite leaders from business and government, policy makers, entrepreneurs and academia from across regions to talk about various aspects of a smart and sustainable city. Our aims are to inspire out-of-the-box thinking and to foster business and government collaboration for a more efficient, competitive and sustainable Hong Kong.
