BEC, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (“CUHK”) and AEL (International Holdings) Limited jointly present an industry visit to the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change (“MoCC”) and Food TranSmarter on the CUHK campus. CUHK is a socially responsible institution of higher education committed to sustainable development. It values university social responsibility and is committed to building a sustainable future for all.

MoCC is the outreach arm of the University’s sustainable development which is also the world’s first museum of climate change. The museum curates exhibitions to communicate the climate crisis and showcases innovative research and solutions to meet sustainability challenges. Besides, the University adopts various sustainable infrastructures and facilities to reduce the carbon footprint of the campus. The Food TranSmarter is an example. It is the first-ever system in Hong Kong to automatically liquefy food waste into slurry, which can be converted into renewable energy. Join us on 24 March (Friday) to explore more about climate change and the award-winning food waste solutions.

Visit Highlights:

  • Learn more about climate change through an interactive, multimedia exhibition at MoCC that showcases valuable collections and information
  • Find out how Food TranSmarter, an award-winning food waste pre-treatment system that converts food waste into slurry, accommodates impurities, saves effort in manual waste sorting and optimises food waste transportation
  • Exchange ideas on promoting sustainability development with smart utilisation of food waste
