Accelerating the transition to a net-zero economy has now become one of the most urgent global challenges for all business sectors. ESG and Sustainable Finance are essential for competitiveness, growth and sustainability on the net-zero journey. As more and more companies in Hong Kong and other parts of the world adopt green and sustainable finance, business leaders should understand its strong relationship with ESG. In this Leadership Networking Series, our speakers will share the importance of practicing green finance in Hong Kong, the challenges and opportunities in this area, and how companies can link sustainable finance with their ESG strategies.

Dr Stan Ho Dr Stan Ho is a seasoned investment banking and credit rating expert, having held senior management positions at global and China credit rating agencies with solid experience in China credit rating and capital market transactions, green finance and ESG rating, including CS First Boston, Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns, Fitch Ratings and Lianhe Global. Stan has solid and direct green finance and certification experience. Stan is involved in the rating of green and sustainability bonds issued by various Chinese issuers in the international capital market. Stan is the GBP SBP Advisory Council and Sustainable Finance Working Group Member Principal Representative of International Capital Markets Association (ICMA). Stan is the Green Finance Certification Scheme Technical Committee Member of Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA), where he is one of the approval members of the HKQAA green certification of the bonds issued, and loans borrowed, by Chinese and Hong Kong corporates and financial institutions. Stan is the Green Finance and Sustainability Subject Advisory Panel Member at Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB), the Faculty Member of the Executive Certificate in ESG Analysis & Green Finance Valuation of Friends of the Earth Hong Kong (FoE HK), the Faculty Member of the Institute of Sustainability and Technology (IST) and the Senior Professional Advisory Committee Member at GBA Carbon Neutrality Association (GBA CNA). Stan is EFFAS Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA®) and CESGA® Examiner, and SGS ESG Reporting Analyst. Stan is the Executive Committee Member of Asia-Pacific Structured Finance Association (APSA), the Market Practices Committee Member of Treasury Markets Association (TMA), the Admissions, Budgets & Allocations Committee Member of the Community Chest of Hong Kong, the International and Professional Examinations Business Development Advisory Committee Member of Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA), and the Examination Moderating Sub-Committee Member of Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB). Stan is the Professor of Practice (MIBF) of the Department of Economics at Lingnan University (LU), the Adjunct Professor (EMBA) of the College of Business at City University of Hong Kong (CityU), and the Adjunct Professor of the School of Business at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). Stan is the EF Department Advisory Committee Member at CityU and the School of Business Advisory Committee Member at HKBU. Stan is the University Career Development Committee Advisor and the Business Studies Advisory Board Member at LU. Stan graduated with BBA in Information Systems from HKUST, MBA from University of Cambridge, and DBA from CityU.

Mr Dennis Ngai Dennis is currently working as Vice President in the Sustainable Finance team within the Institutional Banking Group of DBS Hong Kong. He has over 15 years of experience spanning the fields of Sustainability, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and risk advisory. Prior to joining DBS, Dennis was a Co-founder and Principal Consultant of IRESC, a global EHS consultancy firm. Before IRESC, Dennis worked in ERM, the world’s largest pure play sustainability consultancy, as senior consultant. Dennis holds an MSc in Environmental Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Mr Garrick Lau Being a Gen-Y and a father of two children, Garrick is aspired to bring happiness and fulfilment to the future generations. He believes it is fundamental for every individual and every business to do good and create shared values for the community. His experience covers social innovation, sustainability, change management and intrapreneurship, hospitality and real estate asset management, and youth development. He currently works with a private conglomerate to integrate sustainability across various aspects of operations, target to demonstrate and advocate for the Creating Shared Value (CSV) model to all businesses.
