Increasing the overall recycling rate is a crucial step in addressing the waste problem in Hong Kong. People often wonder about the destination of recycled materials. To address these queries, BEC will organise a technical visit to three recycling and waste treatment plants in Hong Kong on 12 July (Friday). This visit aims to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the recycling process for handling various materials.
Visit Highlights
- Experience Baguio Waste Glass Bottle Recycling Plant to learn about the recycling process and to discover their glass bottle crushing system from Australia, designed to minimise noise nuisance to the environment.
- Explore New Life Plastics at EcoPark, Hong Kong’s first food-grade ready plastics recycling facility with two production lines. One for food-grade ready PET flake, while the other produces high quality HDPE flake.
- Visit BSF Hatch at EcoPark, a modernised automatic bioconversion plant. Learn about the conversion of how chicken manure into animal feed and organic fertiliser by using ”Black Soldier” (“BSF”) larvae.
