Implementation of Envac’s Automated Waste Collection System in Hong Kong Science Park

Hong Kong Science Park is a state of the art campus for innovative and high tech companies. This campus had adopted a hygienic and efficient automatic waste collection system, provided by Envac, which helps the Park collect waste from various locations to central collection point without visibly seen from the ground.

The system consists of a collection station, extensive refuse pipe network and waste inlet doors and is designed to serve the whole campus.  By creating huge negative suction pressure inside the refuse pipes, waste is automatically sucked to the collection station and packaged into a container in no time without any manual labour.  Waste is collected, invisible and totally enclosed, through refuse pipes largely laid in service corridors and underground carpark area that connects all the buildings together.  The system reflects very well the smart, environmental, high tech image of the campus.

"BEC Members Corner" is dedicated to BEC members for the purpose of introducing their recent achievements, success stories, innovative ideas or solutions on environmental sustainability. Members are invited to provide us with an English write-up with about 150 words, which BEC reserves the rights of editing and publishing. The submission deadline for the next E-newsletter is 23 March 2016 (Wednesday). Please contact Ms Joey Hui (T. 2784 3958 | E. joey@bec.org.hk) if you are interested in contributing an article.
