BEC is pleased to support Earth Hour to turn off the lights at its headquarter at the Jockey Club Environmental Building (JCEB) for one hour from 8:30pm to 9:30pm on 27 March 2010.
Last year, BEC had switched off the lightings at various areas including reception ceiling and spot light, car park and 2/F corridor in JCEB during the Earth Hour. In addition, 81 BEC staff members and their families and friends had also participated to turn the city dark for at least one hour, with total hours tallied to be 60.5.
By now, more than 310 companies and buildings have already pledged to support Earth Hour and to deliver a powerful message - we are committed to resolving the issue of global warming.
Earth Hour initiated by WWF in 2007, is a global effort and direct action to address climate change. It raises global awareness on the importance of reducing carbon emissions and energy conservation so that a sustainable and healthy environment can be passed onto our future generations.
We can change our lifestyles to reduce our impact on the environment. Switching off is a simple yet meaningful and effective action. We encourage all members, corporations, and individuals to join Earth Hour 2010, and turn off your lights at 8:30pm on Saturday, 27 March for a brighter future.
