GREEN BUSINESSES are those businesses that are formed with “green” as their DNA. They strive to create a sustainable society through the green products / services they offer to the market. While these green businesses endeavor to promote the concept of sustainability in Hong Kong, is their business model sustainable enough for them to continuously exert a positive impact on the environment?
In the coming BEC Leadership Networking Series, Mr C.L. Lam from OOObject, Ms Michelle Hong from Rooftop Republic, and Mr K.P. Chen from Slowood will share their stories and paths to sustainability. Please don’t miss the chance to listen to the insights from these founders on the opportunities and challenges of running green businesses in Hong Kong, and learn from their green business models.

Ms Michelle Hong Michelle is a city kid born and raised in Singapore, and found out the hard truths of our food system after having pursued growing her own food after moving to Hong Kong Having seen the declining food growing capacity in cities and a disconnection with food sources, Michelle believes that reviving the organic farming movement and building a sustainable food system can start right here in the heart of cities, leading to the co-founding of Rooftop Republic with two partners. Since 2015, Rooftop Republic has transformed over 60 underutilised spaces over 68,000 square feet into productive urban farms. Previously from the communications and advertising sector, she now channels her time and energy towards promoting the urban farming movement, encouraging people to start growing their own food, so as to nurture a generation of consumers connected with their food sources and local producers. She has been living in Hong Kong for 10 years and now calls both cities home.
