BEC New Board Formed
Upon the election held in the Annual General Meeting of BEC on 18 April, 20 members of the Board were elected. More detailed profiles of the new Board of Directors can be found in BEC website.
BEC Recognised as “Caring Organisation”
BEC was awarded with the “Caring Organisation Logo” by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service at the Annual Commemorative Activity of the Caring Company Scheme held on 3 May at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Workshops for discussing HKEx “Environmental, Social and Governance Reporting Guide” (ESG Guide)
BEC held two workshops for discussing the HKEx ESG Guide on 23 February and 1 March. In the first workshop, members shared their views which form the positioning of BEC’s response paper. The second workshop was discussion with Mark Dickens, Head of Listings, HKEx, about the implementation of ESG Guide.

BEC Low-carbon School 2011-2

The ‘BEC Low-carbon School’ Programme, sponsored by the Environment and Conservation Fund, the Environmental Campaign Committee and Canon Hongkong Company Limited, was concluded with an evaluation cum award presentation ceremony of one of the key activities of the programme -- Inter-school Design Competition.
Over 40 teams of Form 3 to 6 students from 23 schools enrolled to the competition and designed their ideal low-carbon school using interactive software. The Champion, 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up of the competition are True Light Girls' College, Sing Yin Secondary School, and United Christian College (Kowloon East) respectively. They received a bamboo-made trophy, book coupons, and a printer sponsored by Canon.
BEC Low-carbon Home 2011-2

From February to April, a series of activities were organised for students to enhance their awareness and understanding of green development.
On 11-12 February, 60 students joined the “Experiential Learning Trip” to Zhongshan, China. Visiting the green project development sites in China, students learnt about the practicality and challenges in designing a green project and the development of China’s environmental management.
From mid-March to April, a total of 5 expert talks and 1 open-top bus tour were organised. Each with about 50 participants, the talks enriched students' knowledge in green development in Hong Kong. The open-top bus tour engaged about 30 post-secondary students in Hong Kong’s town planning in the past and the present, and in identifying the factors in developing a low carbon city.
Vote for “I Like” Award winner to win the new iPad
Green Residential Development Design Competition will hold its adjudication on 28 April. After that, the works of the finalists will be posted on www.facebook.com/LowcarbonHome for public to vote for the winner of the “I Like” Award on 2-15 May, and gain a chance to win the new iPad. Prize presentation will be held in mid of May. Winning team will have a chance to receive internship in the Programme Sponsor Agile Property Holdings Limited.
