BEC FY2020-2022 Strategic Plan – Chairman’s Statement(只有英文版本)

Dear BEC Members and Friends of BEC,

Since its establishment in 1992, Business Environment Council (“BEC”) has been at the forefront of promoting environmental excellence by advocating the uptake of clean technologies and practices which reduce waste, conserve resources, prevent pollution and improve corporate environmental and social responsibility. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to share with you the highlights of our new 3-year strategy plan. The plan reflects an internal strategy re-evaluation and articulation exercise which aims to:

  • Develop a 3-year organisational strategic plan covering FY2019/20 to FY2021/22 (1 October 2019 to 30 September 2022) with priorities identified
  • Develop clear and measurable 3-year targets for each strategic priority
  • Develop a roadmap which includes annual milestones to fulfil the targets set

During the exercise, BEC’s Senior Management Team identified a list of emerging macro trends which may have an impact on BEC’s work in the next 3-5 years and considered the risks and opportunities arising from the macro trends. Three environmental focus areas (“EFAs”) which serve as anchor points to connect issues, focus BEC’s attention, converge internal resources and maximise impact, were then identified:

Focus Areas

Building on the analysis, a set of inter-related strategic priorities for the coming three years with specific goals have been developed:

Strategic Priorities

The goal of this strategic plan is to make BEC’s work more focused and impactful while simultaneously growing our membership base and strengthening the BEC brand in Hong Kong. We believe this strategic plan is a significant step leading to stronger appreciation of BEC’s work and increased recognition of BEC name and brand. I would like to thank all our Board Members and the Senior Management Team for their hard work and support in developing this roadmap. The successful execution of this strategic plan will rest on the collective efforts of the entire organisation and the continued support from you.

Thank you for being part of the green journey that BEC has embarked on. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our CEO Mr Adam Koo (E. adamkoo@bec.org.hk). We value hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Richard Lancaster
