About Circular Economy
In Hong Kong, land scarcity and waste management remain the pressing issues endangering the local environment and economy. Hong Kong’s daily per capita domestic waste generation rate is still high in comparison to other Asian cities with similar economic development. Government and business sector are proactively looking at new business models, strategies and innovations that can bring waste under control, treat waste as a resource for addressing sustainability challenges, while enhancing the competitiveness and growth of local economy.
 
From the World Economic Forum’s perspective, nothing that is made in a circular economy becomes waste. The circular economy’s potential for innovation, job creation and economic development is huge. Waste management industry will play a key role at the heart of circular economy.
