Business Environment Council Limited (“BEC”) is proud to announce its accreditation as a WELL Performance Testing Organisation (“WELL PTO”), being the first Hong Kong-based non-profit organisation offering the service. BEC is also pleased to achieve the WELL Health-Safety Rating (“HSR”) for Facility Operations and Management of its Jockey Club Environmental Building (“JCEB”).

WELL is the premier framework for certifying and creating spaces that advance health and well-being around the world, and the Performance Verification helps ensure the related evidence-based strategies have been implemented and are performing as planned. A WELL PTO is an organisation authorised by Green Building Certification Inc., which upholds the integrity and impartiality to provide independent third-party performance testing services for projects pursuing WELL v2 certification.
With the accreditation, BEC is authorised to conduct the WELL Performance Rating to establish best practices for continuously monitoring and measuring building performance across key indoor environmental quality indicators related to air quality, water quality, thermal comfort, acoustics, lighting and occupant experience.
In February 2022, BEC’s JCEB has also achieved the WELL Health-Safety Rating Facility Operations and Management through the International WELL Building Institute. Designed to empower owners and operators across large and small businesses to prioritise the health, safety and well-being of people, the WELL HSR is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating focusing on operational policies, maintenance protocols, stakeholder engagement and emergency plans to address a post-COVID-19 environment now and into the future.
2022 marks the 30th anniversary of BEC.
