BEC is conducting a project titled The Economics of Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment – Developing the tools for making decisions on cost-effective solutions. This project aims to support buildings owners, managers and tenants to make the right decisions on and develop a business case for investing in energy efficiency of buildings. Event Summary Report - Paris and Marrakesh: Where is the action on climate change going?
Following the Paris Agreement at Conference of Parties 21 in 2015, BEC along with Civic Exchange and HKUST organised an event last December that brought together businesses, academics and NGOs to explore the progress and action on climate change. The event summary report is now available on BEC Website.
BEC Awarded 5 Years Plus Caring Organisation Logo
BEC was awarded the 5 Years Plus Caring Organisation Logo by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service in recognition of its commitment to implement corporate social responsibility through caring for the community, its employees and the environment for six consecutive years since 2011.

13 February: BEC Spring Dinner – a Sustainable and Green Monday
A full house of over 80 like-minded business executives and guests joined this Dinner to share well wishes for the Year of the Rooster and exchange views on environmental issues. Our honorable guests, Mrs Vicki Kwok, Deputy Director of Environmental Protection Department and Mr David Yeung, Founder of Green Monday, gave an inspiring sharing on food waste reduction and Green LUCK Banquet respectively.
17 February: BEC Industry Visit to Lok Ma Chau Ecological Enhancement Area
In this tour, participants enjoyed a new experience of watching Black-faced Spoonbill, Egrets and many other wildlife species from the Bird-Watching Tower. They also learnt that the Ecological Enhancement Area plays a pivotal role in protecting regional biodiversity.
24 February: Renewable Energy – How can it thrive in Hong Kong?
This half-day seminar, co-organized with WWF and Hong Kong Baptist University’s Asian Energy Studies Centre, attracted over 100 participants, from government, businesses and NGOs, to discuss the challenges and opportunities from greater use of renewable energy and the policy measures that can be introduced in the city. Thanks for our distinguished speakers’ enlightening presentations and sharing.
