Mr Horace W. M. Lo
Horace Lo was appointed as Group Managing Director of Modern Terminals Limited in February 2020.
Horace joined Modern Terminals in 1995 as Project Development Manager. He has held various roles including Chief Development Officer and Director of Engineering, responsible for development projects in Mainland China and Hong Kong. He participated and led the development of several terminal projects for Modern Terminals, including Hong Kong’s largest Container Terminal 9, DaChan Bay Terminals in Pearl River Delta and Taicang Terminals in Yangtze River Delta.
Under Mr Lo’s leadership, Modern Terminals has established its Sustainability Strategy in 2021 with a set of long-term goals covering five key sustainability pillars including Governance, People, Health & Safety, Environment, and Community Involvement. For decarbonisation, Modern Terminals aims to eliminate direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in its own operations by 2030, and to become carbon neutral by 2050.
Horace is a Chartered Engineer. He received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia as well as a MBA degree from the University of Sydney, Australia. He is currently a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong, Corporate Representative at The American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, as well as a member of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce’s China Committee and Shipping and Transport Committee, and a committee member of The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong and sits on its External Affairs Committee and Mainland Affairs Committee.
Horace has been appointed as a non-official member of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board (HKMPB) since 2022. He also sits on the Maritime and Port Development Committee (MPDC) and Promotion and External Relations Committee (PEC) under the HKMPB.
